HelpBlueWater.com recently produced the Orange County Poetry Blast, recently featured on the front page of the Laguna Beach Independent in 2007 and the Laguna Beach Coastline Pilot in 2006. 

Modern poetry is an under-recognized art form. Orange Countys largest poetry forum has received rave reviews from both the audience and press and will feature many of its top professionals as they descend on Laguna for an evening of inspired expression. . 

Orange County poetry is an emerging art form. Here in our area, we have several gifted poets who have no substantial public avenue for demonstrating their art. Blue Water has been witness to a stunning display of individual genius and talent in our local poets we can hardly wait to share. The Blue Water Music Festival and other HelpBlueWater.com events has and will continue to include poetry in its formula.

John Gardiner has been continuously hosting poetry readings in Laguna Beach for the past 11 years. He is currently co-host of the venerable Laguna Poets at the library in downtown Laguna Beach. Gardiner has published 10 collections of his poetry and has also been published in a wide variety of anthologies, periodicals and magazines around the country. Over the past 20 years, he has given over 300 featured readings on the west coast. He has also had featured readings in Prague, Frankfurt, Italy, St. Petersburg, Russia, Dublin, Ireland, and Rio de Janeiro. He has a featured reading scheduled with The Western Writers in Galway, Ireland, this Fall.     

Kate Buckley

Kate Buckley was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky, educated at Transylvania University and the University of Kentucky, and works in Advertising.

Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in a variety of journals including: The Adirondack Review, The Heartland Review, New Southerner, Slipstream, and Spillway, and in the book, Tide Pools, an Anthology of Orange County Poetry.  Buckley was also a finalist for the 2007 Joy Bale Boone Poetry Prize.  A member of Laguna Poets, Kate Buckley lives in a 1960s beach bungalow in Laguna Beach with her husband and three unruly dogs. www.KateBuckley.com
